These optional rules replace ability scores in 13th Age with modifiers only.
At character creation, pick an array of modifiers to assign to your attributes, then assign +1 to any 2 of those modifiers. You can also choose to drop the lowest number in any array to -1.
At 4th level, choose an advancement schedule. You gain the bonuses to your modifiers from your chosen advancement schedule in place of adding to your ability scores at 4th, 7th and 10th level. Note: Some arrays have restrictions on the advancement schedules available to them, as noted under each array.
The rare time the rules call for the ability score itself, calculate it as 10 plus your modifier x 2.
Notably, arrays A and C match closely with the arrays from the core book, while schedule A aligns well with modifier advancement possible from those arrays in the core game.
